Converting from a BCS Visa whilst in Cyprus: Legal Options and Grace Period Explained Eleni Vasiliadou / Thursday, July 17, 2025 / Categories: Client Enquiries Dear sir/madam, I want to know, Is BCS visa convertible to other visa while being in Cyprus? And how long one person can stay legally in Cyprus after resigning the job from BCS visa company. Thanks and regards Dear Client, Nice to e-meet you and thank you for your interest in our services. Regarding the BCS Visa, please find below our answer to your questions: Conversion to another visa: It is possible to convert your BCS permit to another type of visa. The most common options are to find another Company of Foreign Interests to employ you (you will must proceed with the relevant filings to the Migration Department). Alternatively, you can apply for the Visitor's visa which has a 1 year duration (certain criteria must be met such as sufficient funds in your bank account etc). Legal stay in Cyprus: The Migration Office in Cyprus gives the BCS holders a grace of 1 month from the termination day as an employee of the BCS company, until they change their status from BCS visa holders to another visa type (e.g. visitor, temporary permit etc). In case you stay in Cyprus after this 1 month period and you do not manage to change legal status, then you will be considered as illegal and you can be deported. In general, it is advisable to act before the termination of your BCS status in case you want to switch to another visa or for Cypriot nationality. At your disposal, Kindest regards.
